Sometimes Krishna very mercifully arranges, either Himself or through the association with His devotees, for us to be forced to confront our attachments. Each time we are forced to do so, we may not deal with that confrontation in an appropriate way, especially if we start becoming offensive. Rather than looking at the attachment within our own heart as an obstacle, we begin to look for faults in others, or in the process itself. This is the result of harboring attachments without the desire to give them up. We become fearful of losing them, and thus we protect them.
