We should always try to keep ourselves in the association of devotees who we can see as superior. We should not feel discouraged. It is due to our false ego that we may feel discouraged in the presence of someone who is superior, thinking ourselves a failure. However, that sense of being a failure should never be in the heart of a devotee. A devotee who thinks that way is lacking faith in the process of chanting the holy name and in the association of devotees. The real progress in life that we should be aspiring for is to increase that faith. We should therefore seek out the devotees who can give us more faith. Seeing others more successful than ourselves in Krishna consciousness should actually give us faith that this process is possible for us.
