Inertia means that a body at rest tends to stay at rest. The same thing happens when a living entity is in ignorance. A living entity in ignorance, tends to stay in ignorance, although a potential is there. Unless he is actually influenced by a force outside of himself, it won't happen. Therefore we have to be in the association of devotees who remind us that there is more to bhakti than coming to the Sunday feast, chanting Hare Krishna mindlessly and not endeavoring to advance in Krishna consciousness.
