Srila Prabhupada's Quote Of The Day

May 12

Krsna directly says how you can become devotee or dear to Krsna. Or, in other words, how you will be seen by Krsna. Krsna is seeing your activities, but especially, to take care of you... Krsna takes care. As soon as you become a devotee, immediately He takes care of you. Otherwise you are under the care of maya, this material energy.

This human form of life, don't spoil it like cats and dogs, eating, sleeping, mating and dancing. No. So, so same dancing, same eating can be utilized when it is in Krsna consciousness. Then he will be... Simply by dancing and chanting and taking prasadam you'll be learned scholar.

Our intelligence is, if we have to work for others and sacrifice this body for others, why not for Krsna? That is our philosophy. If I am whole time, whole duration of life, I am working for others... Others mean, ultimately, my senses. The senses are others. Kamadinam kati na katidha palita durnidesah. My senses dictating, "You stick to this woman and go to hell." "Yes, I am ready. Yes." Kama, lust. So I am servant of the lust. Neither I am servant of the woman or servant of this man or that man. I am servant of my lust. And the lust is dictating that "You do this nonsense." "Yes, I'll do. Yes, I'll do." So in this way, we are actually servant of our senses and the dictation of the senses. This is our position.

The best thing is that you engage yourself in chanting the Hare Krishna Maha-mantra as many times as possible and Krishna will save you. I wish that all your family members should chant, your wife especially, for your prolonged life. Whenever you find time please go to the Bombay temple and offer your sincere obeisances to Lord Krishna. Nobody's life will continue in this material world but if we practice Krishna Consciousness, then certainly by giving up this body one goes back to Home, back to Godhead.

Our Krsna consciousness movement is trying to educate some brahmanas. If the society take our help and conduct the business of the society - ksatriya, vaisya, sudra - then there will be peace and prosperity. Otherwise there will be chaos and confusion.

The scientists say that life begins from chemicals. But the real question is, "Where have the chemicals come from?" The chemicals come from life, and this means that life has mystic powers. For example, an orange tree contains many oranges, and each orange contains chemicals - citric acid and others. So where have these chemicals come from? Obviously they have come from the life within the tree. The scientists are missing the origin of the chemicals. They have started their investigation from the chemicals, but they cannot identify the origin of the chemicals. Chemicals come from the supreme life - God. Just as the living body of a man produces many chemicals, the supreme life (the Supreme Lord) is producing all the chemicals found in the atmosphere, in the water, in humans, in animals and in the earth. And that is called mystic power. Unless the mystic power of the Lord is accepted, there is no solution to the problem of the origin of life.

When Kunti offered prayers to Krsna in very chosen nice words, all the words... Therefore Krsna is known, His another name is Uttama-sloka. Because Krsna is the Supreme, He should be offered prayer with supreme words and feelings. The language should not be cheap, or the idea should not be cheap. Just like when we offer prayer to Krsna, we follow the path by Lord Brahma... Each word is full of meaning. Cintamani, prakara, sadmasu, kalpa-vrksa. So Krsna should be offered by chosen words. Uttama-sloka, very nicely arranged.

I know that you are not much for writing letters but you are much for work. This is very good proposal. Make the Rathayatra Festival very great success. This will be a great introduction in your city and people will appreciate it and if we can introduce successfully this Rathayatra Festival not only in San Francisco but also in New York and also in Montreal, then it will be a great success of my mission in this country.

Your question why Lord Siva was ordered to appear as Sankaracarya and teach the Mayavada philosophy to turn the people to atheism and thus increase the population, that nobody can understand. If Krsna desired Lord Siva to do like that, so he had some plan which we need not understand. He is the Supreme Lord, and He is maintaining the huge universal affairs, so how does He do things and for what purpose He does them, it is very difficult to understand. Just like He planned the battle of Kuruksetra and He induced His friend, a great devotee, Arjuna, to kill. So why does He plan to make others atheist, it is known to him. Our business is to glorify Him always, either He plans to dance with the Gopis, or He makes a plan to kill others on the battlefield of Kuruksetra, or He plans to do something which is not very good from materialistic point of view. Our only business is to remain steadfast devotee to Krsna in all conditions.
