Srila Prabhupada's Quote Of The Day

March 25

The Lord's condemnation, although appearing to be very harsh, is not so. The Lord being Absolute, His condemnation is as good as His blessings. Whenever the Lord or anyone of His pure devotees condemns somebody, it is to be taken as blessing. You know that the great sage Narada condemned the sons of Kuvera to become trees, but as a result of this, they were able to see Lord Krsna which is very difficult even for the great mystic yogis.

Letter to Revatinandana, 25 March, 1970

I am very glad you are getting many private home kirtana engagements. That is very encouraging. If each home adopts our method, they will be happy. There is no sectarian consideration. Everyone should be interested in what is God. The more one understands about God, the more he becomes wise and ultimately he achieves the goal of his life.

Letter to Bhagavan das, 24 March, 1971

If you think that by printing the yogi literature you will get some monetary help, then I give you permission that you can print it. But my standing request is this: Amongst yourselves there should not be any disagreement. Whatever you do, you do it by joint consultation. Because our center of activities is Krishna, for Krishna's sake we can sacrifice our life, wealth, words, intelligence, everything.

The teachings of Bhagavad-gita, how it has to be received, that is explained here. It is not to be understood by so-called scholarship. In the Vedic literature we find, nayam atma pravacanena labhyo na medhaya na bahuna crutena. If you're actually interested in atma-jnana, self-realization, then you cannot understand by your so-called academic education. No. Nayam atma pravacanena... Or because you are a big speaker, you can speak very nicely, decorating language, therefore you have understood. That is also not possible. The spiritual knowledge has to be understood by the grace of the Supreme Spirit. Yam evaisa vrnute tena labhyah-labhyah Katha Upanisad 1.2.23. One who is favored by the Supreme... Here Krsna, the Supreme Being, God, He's explaining about Himself. So you have to learn about God, or Krsna, from Krsna, or through the parampara.

For ourselves when we are in perfect stage of devotional service, we can know our eternal relation with Krishna and as such one of the associates of Lord Krishna becomes our ideal leader. This acceptance of leadership by one of the eternal associates of the Lord is not artificial. Do not therefore try it at present it will be automatically revealed to you in proper time.

Letter to Satsvarupa, 21 March, 1967

Try to recoup your health, depending on Krishna, because after all, He is the ultimate Master of all situations. It is not the doctor, or the medicine, or the place, but it is ultimately Krishna Who is the Master to do everything. With this viewpoint we shall go forward.

Letter to Rayarama, 20 March, 1969

In this material world the point of attraction is stri and purusa, man and woman, male and female. There is an attraction, natural. So the man wants woman, woman wants man, because there is attraction. And when, by that attraction, the man and woman is united, then the result is the children. Pumsah striya mithuni-bhavam etam tayor mitho hrdaya-granthim ahuh [SB 5.5.8]. Then the attraction for this material world increases. When one is alone, he's not so much attached with the material world. But as soon as he unites with the other party, then he gets children, and the attraction increases.

So far the Brahmacaris, you cannot check the association with householders. But their living should be separate.

Letter to Hayagriva, 18 March, 1969

March 17

In your body, for maintenance, proper maintenance of the body you require the head, you require the arms, you require the belly, you require the legs. So all these four divisions of the body are required. You cannot say, "Oh, we don't require this head." Oh, it is nonsense. You require everything. You require the head, you require the arms, you require the belly, and you require the leg. This is fit body. Suppose if there is a body without head - oh, it is dead body. It is body undoubtedly, but if there is no head, simply the trunk is there, it is called dead body. The head is considered to be the intellectual part of the body. Similarly, if there is no brahmana in the society, that is a dead body. If there is no spiritual man in the society, that is a dead society.

Lecture on Bhagavad-gita 7.1, San Francisco, 17 March, 1968

March 16

So far as Gurukula is concerned, literary education is for the Brahminical class, not for all. Others should learn by seeing, like the ksatriyas, vaisyas, and sudras. Just like driving a bullock cart; it doesn't require education. Modern so-called education is simply a waste of time producing hippies.
