Niranjana Swami's Quote Of The Day

April 5

If we strictly follow our spiritual master's order, we can overcome all the imperfections that come with having accepted a material body.
(Lecture- Srila Prabhupada's Vyasa Puja, Almaty 1995)

April 4

Our constitutional nature is that we can either choose to serve Krishna, or we can serve Krishna's illusory energy. That's our choice, but that's the limit. There are no other options. We may look for other options, but they just don't exist.

Lecture, Kiev, November 15, 2009.

April 3

"Doing more" doesn't always necessarily mean that we are physically active. We also can do more by understanding or connecting our activities to pleasing Krsna. We can chant more, we can remember Krsna more, we can pray more. There are many things that one can increase that will be pleasing to Srila Prabhupada and ultimately will be pleasing to Krsna. It's not necessarily a fact that just by doing more physically that we will be able to obtain the result of all of these efforts together.

April 2

Devotional service is not calculated according to quantity—that only if there is a large quantity will the Lord be pleased. We understand that it is the quality of the offering which pleases the Lord.

April 1

We understand that the principle is in pleasing the Lord, which means that the perfection of any service that is rendered is that the Lord is satisfied by one's activities. If one does not have the facility or is physically incapable of doing something very great, the Lord will accept even something very small.

Don't take your chanting as some ritual. Call out to Krishna to help you follow the instructions of your spiritual master, which are meant to keep you out of Maya's clutches. If Krishna sees you make an increased effort to serve a higher instruction aimed to protect you from Maya, He will notice the effort, and in this way, He can be invoked to give you more strength to resist.

March 21

Even if you are with devotees for long periods of time working together to maintain your bodies, it is better even if you are with devotees for shorter periods of time, but for exclusively hearing and chanting about Krishna. In this regard, quality is more important than quantity. Of course, if you can do both, that is best.

March 17

Preaching requires strength. Preaching also requires faith. Without faith and the subsequent strength that one gets from surrendering, it is very difficult to go on preaching. As we mature in
Krishna consciousness, it becomes more and more clear that preaching cannot continue on the external platform.

Preaching is not an external engagement, simply accumulating scores and looking at results from an external point of view. If we want to be successful preachers, there must be an internal life as well. This will give us the conviction and strength required to distribute Krishna consciousness because we, ourselves, know the real value of Krishna consciousness.

March 17, 2001, Letter Mumbai

March 9

The soul naturally wants freedom, and Krishna allows this independent behavior in His devotee, because His devotee is completely dependent upon Him; this sounds like a contradiction and it sounds like something that would be a cause for bewilderment, but it is a fact that our greatest independence is found in our complete dependence on Krishna.

March 9, 1991, Kiev

March 8

So the more we know about Krishna, the more we want to serve Him and therefore we can simply expect by continuously serving the Lord that may be we able to obtain a drop of mercy at His lotus feet. A devotee prays simply for that drop so that he can understand Krishna and increase his love and affection for the Lord.
