Niranjana Swami's Quote Of The Day

January 25

So many disciples have stated how Srila Prabhupada was an ocean of compassion, how he was always thinking how to give Krishna consciousness to others.  Therefore, by worshipping him, serving him, participating in the society of Krishna consciousness, somehow trying to satisfy him, and in due course of time we can develop that same compassion and be free from all material anxieties.  That is the platform that devotees can experience - complete relief from material distress.

The fact is that everyone needs to hear, which means that it is always the right time. But somebody needs to inspire this understanding in their hearts. It can not be forced or legislated. Forced hearing will go on for some time but will gradually wane. Faith ( in hearing the pastimes about Krishna) is awakened by pure, forceful preaching of a realized devotee.

The Lord always protects. He protects the vows of His devotees. He protects the desires of His devotees. He protects the heart of the devotee.(…) It’s the path of bhakti, the path of devotional service. We should always be seeking the protection of the Lord and then for one who is actually under that protection, one who sees the Lord's participation in his life and sees His kindness and His mercy however it manifests, he will always be protected by the Lord.

Sraddha means to have complete faith that without chanting the holy name, all one's subsidiary duties (work, family, society, body, pious activity, etc.) will always remain incomplete. Incomplete fulfillment of duties means incomplete fulfillment of the self.

Seeing everything connected to Krishna means that we also must be connected, for without that connection it is difficult to see.

The substance doesn’t come from the structure. The structure came from the substance. So the substance of our Krishna consciousness movement is Krishna consciousness. This is the substance. And to the degree that we actually share this Krishna consciousness with each other, everything else will come.

Progress means feeling that we are unworthy of mercy, we are in need of more and more mercy, and that we are not doing enough service for Krishna's pleasure.

I hope that my disciples can mature enough to realize that Krishna manifests Himself through the association of those devotees who bind Him with love. It is not that just because Srila Prabhupada invoked Krishna's presence within ISKCON, that He (Krishna) will always remain bound within every aspect of the institution after Prabhupada's departure.

When the Lord gives benedictions, He is giving  benedictions for the ultimate interest of His devotee. He is thinking how to bring His devotee closer to His lotus feet.

So to get the attention of the Lord, we have to have unflinching faith and devotion. Otherwise, if we perform severe austerities, but if there is any pride or any desire of prestige or recognition from these austerities, it is simply a show. Somebody else may look at us, but Krishna, His attention will never go there.

That is mercy.  The Lord is very kind and merciful to such persons who are simply satisfied to be engaged in His service and not make unnecessary endeavors to enjoy this material world.  The Lord gives such mercy to them that the Lord fully reciprocates personally by giving Himself to such a person.
