Niranjana Swami's Quote Of The Day

November 23

Prabhupada always used to emphasize that if you preach, everything else will come. In other words, if you are giving Krsna to others, if you are actually concerned about their spiritual welfare and want to see them advance in spiritual life, you do not have to worry because when you give Krsna to others, reciprocation naturally takes place.

A Vaisnava is always thinking of how to relieve the suffering of others. He is never satisfied to simply become comfortable himself. This preaching spirit must never stop. Always trying to give Krsna to everyone should be our primary motivation in all our efforts.

We have to be perfect examples ourselves. This type of exemplary behavior was what Srila Prabhupada was insisting upon—to give up the spirit of enjoyment. We must become genuinely renounced by accepting the order of the Lord and the spiritual master through disciplic succession.

One who actually experiences the constant presence of the Lord will be able to overcome the pains of materialistic life. He will see his family and wealth in relationship to his service to the Lord. He will not become illusioned, thinking that these are the sources of pleasure in life. Rather, he will see that they all belong to the Supreme Lord, Krsna.

The spirit of renunciation means to give up the enjoying spirit. Without giving up the enjoying spirit, it is not possible to be renounced. We may renounce all family life without understanding the real spirit of renunciation. We may think, “Yes, I am renouncing so that I can experience enjoyment.” However, if we cannot understand real enjoyment, our renunciation will be incomplete.

We should always want to speak about Krsna. This is life in Krsna consciousness. The life of all transcendental knowledge, as Lord Caitanya describes in Siksastaka, is that it increases the ocean of transcendental bliss and enables us to taste the nectar for which we are always anxious.

Caitanya Caritamrita Lectures Book, Madhya Lila, Pg 296

November 17

Topics about Lord Krsna are very satisfying to the heart, and the more we speak about Krsna, the more the attraction will increase; and the more our attraction increases, the more we lose attraction for materialistic activities.

Caitanya Caritamrita Lectures Book, Madhya Lila, Pg 294

November 16

Srila Prabhupada would often quote Srila Bhaktisiddhanta who said, “One who has life, preaches.”
Preaching is our life. If one is not preaching Krsna consciousness, speaking about Krsna, and hearing about Krsna, he does not feel like he has any life.

If you want to become freed from all obstacles of life and advance in spiritual life, simply give everybody the teachings of Lord Krsna as given in the Srimad-Bhagavatam and Bhagavad-gita. This was the essence of Lord Caitanya’s teachings, and this was the very basis of the sankirtana movement, which was given by Srila Prabhupada.

The most important service that one can do in whatever position in life he may be in—brahmacari, grhastha, vanaprastha, or sannyasa—is to use everything to glorify the Lord.
