Niranjana Swami's Quote Of The Day

December 31

Lord Brahma was entrusted with the responsibility to create, and similarly anyone who is in the disciplic succession from Lord Brahma receiving an instruction to accept some responsibility from his bona fide representative should always be aware of his incapability. Incapability means that actually my ability to do something is simply that I gotten the order. Without the order I can not do anything.

Here in material world everything is destroyed by time, but in the spiritual world time simply exists to serve the pastimes of the Supreme Lord.

It is the spiritual master's duty to train his disciples, and humility and pridelessness are the ornaments of all Gaudiya Vaisnavas. We should not tire from hearing these topics. In fact, only by hearing these topics in relation to the eternal associates of Lord Caitanya can we become qualified to enter into and understand the pastimes of Radha and Krishna in Vrndavana. Without humility we will never be allowed entrance.

When the Lord gives His heart, the fear of the loss of our attachments will never again enter our hearts. Whether we live or die becomes irrelevant, because we will posses the greatest attachment for all of eternity - love for Krishna. Nobody will ever take that away.

So if we want capture Krishna's attention and we don’t have unflinching unalloyed devotional service ourselves, then there is only way to get it. Therefore Prabhupads always gives the example that the only way to get Krishna's attention is to render service to His devotee. Because a devotee is fully dependent upon Him, whenever service is rendered to the devotee, Krishna immediately takes notice of that service and then we have hope. That is our hope. That is our only hope to get Krishna's attention.

If one is actually conscious of Krishna, it means that he is conscious of Krishna's position. That’s why it’s described here that purusam means enjoyer. If we are actually conscious of Krishna it means that we are conscious that Krishna is the enjoyer. We have to be conscious of that fact. How can we say that we are conscious of Krishna if we think "I am the enjoyer"? The moment that we think that "I am the enjoyer" we can't be conscious of Krishna.

So this is a little bit about relationships which exist between the servant and the master. The servant always thinks of himself as servant and the Lord sometimes places that servant in the position as His master.

Krishna is very much inclined to give Himself. But if we want to have Krishna, then we have to please Krishna. In order to please Krishna means to give up all ideas for our own happiness and we have to exclusively think of Krishna's happiness.

So when a non-devotee is punished by the material energy, it’s obvious, he is not going to see that he is being punished by the Lord because he is in maya. He is in illusion. He is covered. Therefore he is thinking “Why I am suffering in this way?” Typically the first thing he thinks is “I don’t deserve this suffering.”

That’s typically the very first thing that a person thinks if he is punished, made to suffer. Typically he tries to find something or someone to blame. That a typical symptom of someone who is under the influence of illusory energy. But a devotee who knows that the material energy never acts separately from the will of the Lord, he always makes a connection. That’s the symptom of a devotee. He is always making everything connected to Krishna.

December 22

We must get devotional service from somebody who has devotional service, but at least we must develop the desire to obtain it. If one does not have that desire to obtain it, then one will not be able to ever understand the mysteries of devotional service.
