People tend to respect those who practice religion. But if we are actually interested in becoming free from the material world, we must serve a Vaisnava and help him in his preaching. We may still gain respect, wealth, or followers, but attaining these things will not be our purpose.

“Vaisnava” means servant of the Vaisnava. A Vaisnava always meditates on serving guru. Everything a Vaisnava does is intended as an act of service, and because a Vaisnava is always serving the guru’s mood, preaching becomes successful.
