Niranjana Swami's Quote Of The Day

December 8

If we don’t share what we know, our knowledge will leak from us as water leaks from a broken pot.

Lectures from a disciple, Vol 1, p. 265. SB 2.3.18, Mayapur, 3.20.1994

December 7

We should not become disturbed when we meet resistance while spreading Krsna consciousness. Rather, we should expect resistance. Prabhupada assured us it would be there. If the materialists do not fight back when we preach, then there is something wrong with our preaching.

Lectures from a disciple, Vol 1, p. 265. SB 2.3.18, Mayapur, 3.20.1994

December 6

Deep realization in devotional service can only be achieved by the mercy of a Vaisnava. Although many gurus give transcendental instruction to their disciples, real spiritual instructions lead to devotional service. If they don’t, then hearing them is a waste of time: bhagavad-bhakti-hinasya jatih sastram japas tapah apranasyaiva dehasya mandanam loka-ranjanam.

Lectures from a disciple, Vol 1, p. 263. SB 2.3.18, Mayapur, 3.20.1994

December 5

Some people think that by going somewhere and meditating on their own salvation, they will become purified. The Lord’s devotees think differently. They always think about elevating human society, not about their own salvation.

Lectures from a disciple, Vol 1, p. 262. SB 2.3.18, Mayapur, 3.20.1994

December 4

The more we hear the Bhagavatam, the clearer our life’s mission will become to us. Hearing is our highest duty.

Lectures from a disciple, Vol 1, p. 259. SB 2.8.26, Moscow (Kokoshkino gurukula), 10.25.96

December 3

We have to understand that the success in preaching is not based only on the nondevotee’s desire but on our own as well. We have to feel the weight of responsibility. Maybe our desire that they take a book is not pure enough. We have to increase our desire. We cannot force people to take books, but we can pray to Krsna to inspire them from within the heart.

Lectures from a disciple, Vol 1, p. 243. Istagosthi, Vinnitza, Summer 1995

December 2

When a devotee finds shelter in devotional service, he thinks of nothing else. He doesn’t need anything else. He experiences real satisfaction. Then he decides he wants to share that with others.

Lectures from a disciple, Vol 1, p. 263. SB 2.3.18, Mayapur, 3.20.1994

December 1

We should never touch something dirty, then something sacred. That’s why I am always asking the devotees not to fill up the water cup for the Bhagavatam class all the way. If it’s filled to the top, how can I pour it? I can’t drink and then touch the Bhagavatam. We shouldn’t drink or eat anything and then touch something sacred. That’s part of cleanliness.

Lectures from a disciple, Vol 1, p. 351-352. SB 4.2.21 Moscow, 10.27.96

November 30

We are trying to glorify Srila Prabhupada, but if we don’t behave in the way that Srila Prabhupada expected, then people will blame Srila Prabhupada for our bad behavior.

Lectures from a disciple, Vol 1, p. 349. SB 4.2.21 Moscow, 10.27.96

November 29

The spiritual master is merciful because he distributes the Lord’s mercy just as a raincloud distributes water from the ocean. A rain cloud does not carry its own water, but takes water from the ocean. In the same way, a devotee carries the Lord’s mercy and shares it with others.
