Niranjana Swami's Quote Of The Day

November 18

If we actually hear the message of Krsna consciousness presented purely, we begin to desire bhakti to grow in our own hearts. What happens when that desire begins to grow? We decide we want to act for Krsna’s pleasure.

Lectures from a disciple, Vol 1, p. 334. Bhaktyaloka, Kishinev, 4.14.99

November 17

Hari is one who takes away.  He can also take away all of these sufferings and bring His devotee to His lotus feet so he doesn’t have to take birth again in this material world.  That is Krishna consciousness.

The ability to inspire others comes from purity. Wherever there is real Krsna consciousness, we will find an awakening of spiritual desire.

November 15

Are we maintaining the body so that we can live like animals? No, we maintain the body simply because the body is a valuable boat to carry us across the ocean of material existence. We maintain the body in order to support our attempts to increase our faith in Krsna and to become more attached to Him through the process of hearing and chanting.

Lectures from a disciple, Vol 1, p. 333. Bhaktyaloka, Kishinev, 4.14.99

November 14

One can become enthusiastic to work to maintain the material body as a support for his spiritual awakening. We need the material body in order to hear the topics of Lord Hari and increase our faith in and attachment to the Lord.

November 12

God is supreme. If we choose not to accept His decisions, that’s our choice. When we misuse our minute independence, we will suffer the consequences.

Lectures from a disciple, Vol 1, p. 331. Bhaktyaloka, Kishinev, 4.14.99

November 11

Faith is a key ingredient in awakening spiritual desire. Faith is awakened by hearing about Krsna in the association of devotees.

November 10

If we are inert, we will never be able to make spiritual advancement. This is because devotional service is based on desire; it is voluntary. Devotional service begins when the soul decides to act for Krsna’s pleasure. If the soul is being forced to act in that way, then we cannot call his actions devotional.

Lectures from a disciple, Vol 1, p. 327. Bhaktyaloka, Kishinev, 4.14.99

November 9

Prabhupada compared the practitioner to an unripe mango. Ultimately, the activities of the sadhaka and the siddha are the same, but one practice is unripe and the other ripe. We assume that what is unripe will ripen over time. That will surely happen if we fix Krsna as our goal.

Lectures from a disciple Vol 1, pg 323, Bhaktyaloka, Moscow, 1.12.97

November 8

Nothing is wrong with having a desire to return to the spiritual world. If we make attaining Krsna’s lotus feet our goal, and then do everything motivated by the desire to achieve it, then even if there are still material desires within the heart, they will be gradually spiritualized.
