Niranjana Swami's Quote Of The Day

September 5

Inspiration comes from hearing. It comes from Vaishnava relationships that are free from envy, free from pride, and filled with compassion. Compassion means wanting to see others advance even if they have to step on your head to go forward. That is compassion; that is Vaishnava mentality.

I cannot be peaceful when I see others suffering, especially those who are depending upon their association with me to help relieve them from their suffering. Love can only exist when Krishna is at the center. Love can only exist when we serve others, when we see that by serving others we are serving Krishna. When we associate with each other in a loving way, it helps us to remember Krishna. That is what actually attracts one devotee to another devotee. That is because Krishna is at the center.

So this svarupa shakti, the Lord's internal potency, is coming from the Lord and is manifest in the Holy Name and also manifest in the hearts of the Vaishnavas and therefore if we can serve Vaishnavas, we can actually become proper recipients for this svarup shakti to enter into our hearts. Then we get nourishment, we get strength, we get knowledge and we experience some bliss. This is the most blissful engagement. There is nothing more satisfying to the self than to serve the Supreme Lord and to serve the Vaishnavas.

Balarama means spiritual strength. So this spiritual strength is coming from the Supreme Lord. The strength to withstand the disturbances of material world, the strength to continue to serve Krishna despite whatever impediment comes, it is bestowed upon that devotee who always take shelter of the Lord in all circumstances. Krishna provides him unlimited strength because a devotee knows that it is not his own. Those who receive strength, but do not understand that it is coming from God, they use it in defiance of the Lord, and ultimately whatever achievements or strength they have gained will be taken away.
